Musician Kevin He has selected a well known Chinese folk melody from Sichuan Province by the name of “Joyous as the sun comes out” to inspire this new piece of music. Traditionally sung by farmers, this melody is upbeat and features changing meters and a characteristic modal Chinese scale. The piece will be played on shinobue flutes, and taiko in unison rhythm, while Kevin He adds his own original melodies throughout the piece to create a structure.
