Raised in the US and Canada, Sakura is a recent graduate of the University of Toronto, where she majored in Information Studies. A former competitive synchronized figure skater and introduced to piano at a young age, Sakura discovered her love for taiko in 2021, drawn to its dynamic performance and collaborative nature, and as a means to connect with and share her heritage. Sakura Ariga became a member of Nagata Shachu in 2024
