Kigi no Kaiwa is a playful musical conversation featuring the most basic part of the taiko ensemble – the miya taiko; drums made out of a single tree trunk. Each tree (or taiko) has a different personality in this conversation, which is carried out over a series of shifts in groove and feel. The trees persuasively try to win over their interlocutors, but eventually arrive at a happy consensus.
