A kaleidoscope, which literally means “observation of beautiful forms,” creates dazzling geometric formations of color, shape, and space that changes as you turn the cylinder. Using multiple reflections of beads, pebbles, and pieces of glass, the elements are limited, but the patterns created appear limitless, in a constant state of flux. This song is inspired by what one sees through a kaleidoscope. It seeks to bring out on taiko drums the beauty, variety, symmetry, and ever-shifting movements of this unique, beloved device.
