Vice-President
Darlene worked for a retail photographic company most of her working years; serving in a variety of roles during her employment with them. After retiring, she enjoyed a four-year hiatus before returning to the workforce as the office administrator at her church—a role that allowed her to merge her administrative skills with her passion for service.
She has served on her church’s and Kiyoshi’s board of directors for several years as a director at large. She was also on the boards of several of the church’s different committees. Volunteering has always been a central part of her life, and she takes great pride in supporting both her church and Nagata Shachu.
Her love for Japanese culture has led her to perform with a taiko group founded by her longtime friend, Kiyoshi. In addition to taiko drumming, she finds joy in classical Japanese dance, Japanese folk dance, and hula dancing. She embraces the spirit and artistry of each tradition. Being part of this vibrant cultural community continues to be a meaningful and energizing part of her life.
